More than 250 runners in Team Living Water jerseys took to the streets of St. Louis in April and raised over $80,000 for Living Water International. And today—National Running Day—we want to celebrate them!
The St. Louis team, members of The Crossing, flood the city's half- and full-marathon course every year, enduring thirst so the developing world doesn't have to.
It's medicine for the soul, one runner from The Crossing explained. Not only do the runners keep up their pace knowing the miles are funding life-saving work around the world, the training and group run schedule helps them deepen the community between like-minded advocates. It's not just the thirsty whose lives are changed.
Judy West of The Crossing staff leads the team with strength and enthusiasm and couldn't be more thrilled with the team's race response.
"One day during my morning training run, I was overwhelmed by the presence of God—his presence was just so strong," one team member said. "I never really believed my life could make a difference on his behalf."
But God had other plans. She miraculously blew the $400 goal out of the water—crossing the finish line with $820 personally raised for the thirsty. She was struck with awe at God's provision for her and those we serve! Praise God!
