What Makes Development Solutions Stick

Yesterday we reflected on why development is difficult—our efforts are ineffective when we impose plans on communities hardest hit by the world's largest, systemic challenges.

We know the best way to see lasting change is to spot a community's natural leaders. When we help position them as integral voices in the decision-making process, their solutions stick. They understand their context better than any outsider ever could, and we value their insight!

Ladies like these in Liberia give us hope. Earlier this month our team traveled to meet them—and other local community water committee leaders—innovating their own tangible sanitation solutions through the encouragement of Living Water local staff. Their initiative has inspired our entire office, and we know you will be too. We can't wait to share stories like theirs with you soon—keep an eye on our blog as they unfold!
