Living Water

“Today, we see a little light.”

PERU – Esperanza, Cachiyacu River, Balsa Puerto

GPS: 05 44.949 S, 076 28.821 W

There is no electricity in Esperanza. When the sun shines, the village has light. When it rains, and after the sun goes down, all is darkness.

There was another kind of darkness in Esperanza, too: a darkness of people who had lost hope. They were drinking from the river. They were getting sick. They were suffering. A long time ago, there was a Catholic church here, but there was no leader for the church. There is no church presence in Esperanza today. The villagers begged our team to return to teach them more about the Bible and about Christ.

“Please return,” said Roberto Inuma at the well dedication, “because we are forgotten. Please bring the Word of God. We lived in darkness, but today we see a little light. I thank you all."
