Celebrate 2012 With Us!

It's time to celebrate! Together, you helped us make 2012 a year of life change. Below are 10 milestones—global progress, emergency response, awesome advocates—that we find especially excellent. Somersaults and cartwheels encouraged.

TOGETHER WE MADE GLOBAL PROGRESS!

Last year the WHO/UNICEF estimated the number of people without access to an improved water source dropped from 884 million to 783 million (that's 101 million fewer people who lack access to an improved water source)—thanks to new water points and programs. We're proud to claim 1,530 of those new wells and well rehabilitations in 2012, offered in Jesus' name. Track our progress at water.cc/ourwork.

WASH CHANGES EVERYTHING.

Our very first Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Program Area launched in Ntugamo, Uganda! With this new multi-year commitment focused on supporting multiple water points with sanitation and hygiene promotion, and community and church engagement, we're on track to see even more life-saving, lasting behavior change across Uganda—and beyond! (More WASH programs are launching in Uganda, Haiti and Mexico in the coming year.) See the transformation at water.cc/water.

OUR TEAM CHEER CHANGED.

We started singing to the tune of our new official tagline, "Waterfor lifein Jesus' name." Kinda catchy, huh? (See how it plays out in real life—click on the links above to see our three corresponding campaigns.)

WATER GOT ARTSY.

Two elementary school sisters turned origami into more than a hobby. One thousand hours of paper-folding later, Katherine and Isabelle of Paper for Water had crafted and sold enough ornaments to raise nearly $120,000 for clean water—thanks to a $50K corporate match! They even spoke in NYC at the United Nations Women Organization—you know, all in a school-day's work. (They've set an even loftier goal for 2013—$250,000!) Keep track of them on Facebook: facebook.com/paperforwater.

OUR FAMILY TREE HAS NEW LEAVES.

We added 13 new places at the table for our US-based family and 25 internationally. Group hug! And our extended family grew, too—4 weddings and 2 babies, with 3 more on the way.

WE PUT NEW TOOLS IN YOUR TOOLBOX.

Ending the water crisis isn't just about donations—it's something YOU DO! We're making that even easier with new tools for advocates: a brand new website, your very own Give Well profiles, and a mobile app (iPhone and Android) for you fundraising go-getters.

YOU'RE A HERO IN SIERRA LEONE!

When we sounded the alarm, you came running! In response to the cholera outbreak in Sierra Leone, you helped us decontaminate existing water sources, provide latrines, and lead hygiene trainings at schools. With your support, we were also able to rehabilitate 20 wells and drill two new ones! We'd sew you an honorary superhero cape if we could. Watch how we're empowering future generations to lead their schools and families to better health.

WE'RE BLAZING TRAILS IN NICARAGUA

We commandeered an air drill rig—the only type suitable for extremely rocky conditions—in a brand new location for short-term trips. And as the only organization working in these villages surrounding Rivas, Nicaragua, we're paving the way for more sustainable development to follow suit. Sign up at water.cc/trips to see it in action!

LOOK WHAT WE DID TOGETHER!

We crunched the numbers, and you helped us bring in $20,750,000 for clean water in 2012! Our field staff stole the show at our Houston IMMERSED Gala and helped us secure more than $2.5 million in one night. (See our show-stoppers—photo and video—at water.cc/gala.) At Christmas, you guys stuffed stockings with $203,300 worth in Living Water gift cards. And through partnerships with the body of Christ—the Church—we saw congregations sacrifice more than $5.6 million.

WE CAPTURED SOME MIRACLES.

If we ever start to think it's all about our own work, we're reminded that God is mightier than we could ever imagine. Not only did we see entire communities changed by clean water in India, we witnessed miracles—inexplicable healing only accomplished by God's loving hand. See the stories at water.cc/jesus.
