I'm raising $1,500 to help the people of India because...my husband and I watched the documentary "Born into Brothels" in 2007 and it cemented our ideas about the way geography alone can change a person's prospects for a healthy, happy future. Dollars seem to come & go in and out of our American pockets almost without notice, and those SAME dollars could be used to change a person's quality of life or even a child's ability to survive in a country like India. I chose India for this reason, but the same phenomena is true in any desperate people group...all over the world. I want to raise $1,500 because that is enough to rehabilitate an old, existing well. It' s a starting place. Once we knock out $1.5K, I'd love to raise enough to create a new well...$5000.
Living Water International exists to demonstrate the love of God by helping communities acquire desperately needed clean water, and to experience "living water"—the gospel of Jesus Christ—which alone satisfies the deepest thirst.
In 1990 we set out to help the church in North America be the hands and feet of Jesus by serving the poorest of the poor. More than a billion people in the world live on less than a dollar a day. At least 783 million people lack access to safe drinking water. Our work empowers communities through hygiene and sanitation education and sustainability strategies to keep water flowing, for life, in Jesus' name.
Responsible development means funding the whole program for the whole person. Gifts offered here go towards safe, sustainable water access, hygiene and sanitation education, and Christian witness programs in India.
